The structured nature of the EMDR Eight Phases lends itself to the misunderstanding that EMDR Therapy is a linear “step-by-step” approach rather than a dynamic structured approach. This advanced training is an effort to utilize a visual analogy in order to enhance right-hemisphere engagement in the material and better provide for an understanding of the multidimensional conceptualization of the Eight Phases.
